The PP system is a measurement system designed to promote skill and fair play, and to help push the limits of the player by encouraging competition.
To get more Weighted PP to climb the ranked leaderboards, you need to play ranked maps to get as much Raw PP as possible per score.
Raw PP is rewarded after every new or improved score on ranked maps.
Multiple characteristics (Standard and OneSaber) and difficulties on a song can be ranked.
Filter and sort by the different star ratings to find the right maps for you!
The easiest way to get started is by downloading the ranked and/or qualified playlist through the PC mod or on the website.
Once you have all the ranked songs available, all you need to do is play them with BeatLeader installed to set new scores, which will reward Raw PP and possibly Weighted PP.
We don't want to force people to play all the ranked maps to get as much total PP as possible. We want people to be able to focus on what they enjoy playing. To do this, total PP is calculated by sorting and adding only the best scores on your account.
Weighted PP is calculated with Raw PP x 0.965 ^ map index
.
Map index is from 0 to X, in order of highest to lowest Raw PP.
Here an example of a simulated profile that showcase this:
Map Index | Ranked Status | Map Name | Acc | Raw PP | Weighting | Weighted PP Contribution |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
0 | Ranked | Need Your Love | 92.86% | 435.97 | (0.965 ^ 0) = 1 | 435.97 |
1 | Ranked | Sequence Breaker | 87.62% | 395.62 | (0.965 ^ 1) = 0.965 | 381.77 |
2 | Ranked | PP Breaker | 88.69% | 372.85 | (0.965 ^ 2) = 0.931 | 347.21 |
3 | Ranked | Kisaragi | 91.25% | 367.48 | (0.965 ^ 3) = 0.899 | 330.23 |
4 | Unranked | Spiritdance | 92.06% | NA | NA | NA |
5 | Unranked | Dogland (TV Size) | 90.06% | NA | NA | NA |
Total Raw PP | 1571.92 | Total Profile PP | 1489.18 |
This purely depend on what type of map the player enjoy playing and wish to get better on. Most PP come from having high accuracy due to how scoring work in Beat Saber, as accuracy get exponentially harder to get and maintain. A good place to start for newer players is to try to get 95% on maps under 6 stars rating, and then slowly go up, either in star rating, or in accuracy on those maps.
Player should progressively get better at accuracy and/or speed, and usually focus on a specific style of map.
Speed modifiers can also be used (SS, FS, SFS) to change the speed of a map, and the star rating will be recalculated based on the new speed of the map.
There's multiple options available for this (Raw PP):
A common question people seem to have when they get a new score worth, for example, 100 weighted PP is why they are not getting +100 pp on their total amount of performance points. As explained earlier, since the effect of the curve on your plays increases the further you go down your list, when you make a new play, it takes the place of an older play which makes all the plays that are under go down 1 place in the list. Even if you are getting +100 pp from this new play, all your lower plays are weighed down even more than before so you lose a certain amount of PP on them. This is why when getting a new play or making a better play on a map, you will never (one exception) get the same amount of PP on your total amount of performance points.
The only exception to this is if you get a better accuracy on your current top play. Since your top play is not affected by the curve, meaning that none of your songs will change places in your list, there will be no lost of PP on your other plays. An example would be if your top play is on Avalanche with 250 pp and you manage to get a better accuracy and that play is now worth 260 pp, you will then get +10 pp on your total amount of PP.
